Underneath our sealed skin is an incomprehensible darkness that reaches to the bone. Umbra is a term used to describe the dark inner shadow our moon casts during an eclipse. Our bodies create an umbra, casting an inward shadow that propagates (like good soil) the light we create and project into the outer world. Our hands are agents of this umbra within, and here hold totems of the four elements: earth, water, fire, air. Bone: Earth element, from dust, to dust Crystal Ball: Water element, peering into the waters of the subconscious Green flame: Fire element, vitality and passion to guide us through the dark Dagger: Air element, intellect and choice words cut like a blade through air
